ROH on Sinclair - Episode 543 - 11th February 2022

The Briscoes were confirmed as the first entrants into the ROH Hall Of Fame, and they were soon followed by 'American Dragon' Bryan Danielson. Considered by some (myself included) to be the greatest ROH World Champion of all time - even over the legends like Samoa Joe or Nigel McGuinness - he is the subject of another 'Hall Of Fame' special episode this week...

A TV edit of Bryan Danielson vs KENTA for the ROH World Title from Glory By Honor 5: Night 2 is shown

A clip of Bryan winning the World Title from James Gibson at Glory By Honor 4 comes next. That is a classic match in its own right; one of my favourite ever ROH matches and incredibly under-rated...

A TV edit of Bryan Danielson vs Nigel McGuinness for the ROH World & Pure Titles from Unified is shown

Tape Rating - N/A - For newer fans of Ring Of Honor, this is a must-see episode. Danielson/KENTA from GBH5 and Danielson/Nigel from Unified are two of the most iconic ROH matches of all time. If, for whatever reason, you hadn't seen them previously then even TV-edit, condensed versions make for compelling viewing. Even for someone like me, with an ROH fandom dating back to 2002, seeing these special bouts again stirs up genuine emotion. I can't pretend this was an innovative hour of television, or offers anything substantive for the more hardcore of ROH's remaining fans...but it was cheap to produce and the wresting is of phenomenal quality. If nothing else I enjoyed this for the nostalgic, fond memories it brought up for me, and as a reminder of the incredible, enduring, once-in-a-lifetime talent that 'American Dragon' Bryan Danielson truly is.
