ROH on Sinclair - Episode 457 - 19th June 2020

Our latest subject for the weekly profile special episodes ROH are using to provide new televised content during the pandemic shut-down is Bandido. He is another who only joined the roster at the start of 2019, but one who went on a tear from the very beginning and has been stealing shows ever since.

Bandido beams from behind his mask as he welcomes us to the show; his Six-Man Title belt occupying pride of place in the shot as well. He is happy to welcome us to highlights from his ROH career, and begins by talking fondly about how warmly he has been welcomed by ROH fans - even going right back to his debut match in Atlanta in January 2019.

He chose the next match as one of his highlights because it meant that not only did he get to face an established ROH star like Flip and a world-travelled veteran like PJ Black, but he also got to wrestle Caristico - whom he calls an 'idol' to him growing up

Bandido says he is proud of being one of the few men to pin the 'legend' Bully Ray in an ROH ring. He achieved that feat at Road To G1 Supercard: San Antonio. He calls the Briscoes 'legends' as well, and knew he wanted to face them - but in singles. He got his wish in September 2019...

A TV edit of Bandido vs Jay Briscoe from Global Wars Espectacular Night 1 is shown

The episode ends with Bandido talking about how much he loved teaming with Flamita and Rey Horus and defeating Villain Enterprises to become the Six-Man Champions at the start of 2020.

Tape Rating - N/A - Bandido, like Dragon Lee and Rush, isn't a native English speaker so wasn't as comfortable as other hosts we've seen for these profile episodes. What he did bring, though, was enthusiasm. His smile couldn't be disguised even by his full-facial mask and he attacked his self-shot segments with the lovable, fully-committed zest that he has presented himself with throughout his ROH run. The match quality of the selections this week was great as well. Bandido/Haskins, the Masters Of The Craft four-way and Bandido/Briscoe were all great - and completely different - encounters.
