ROH on Sinclair - Episode 455 - 5th June 2020

The subject of this week's character spotlight is Brody King. This is one of the 'profile' episodes I've been looking forward to most, since Brody is someone whom ROH have had on the roster for a while but haven't really explored anything about his character or personality thus far. His role has been limited to being a hard-hitting, smash-mouth lieutenant in Villain Enterprises, without much time dedicated to showing us what sets him apart (in the way that Scurll, PCO and Flip have received). It means that this episode presents him with a welcome opportunity to not only show us some great match footage, but actually give us more of an insight into the man behind the in-ring brutality.

Brody opens with quite a sweet overview of his family life during the quarantine; time spent with his toddler son, yoga, video games, smoking meats and watching TV shows with his wife. His first 'favourite' match is Villains vs MexiSquad, where his team actually lost the Six-Man Championship

A TV edit of Villain Enterprises vs MexiSquad for the ROH Six-Man Title from Saturday Night At Center Stage 2020 is shown

Brody singles out his match with Jeff Cobb from Death Before Dishonor 17 as incredibly important to him, because it was his first 1-on-1 singles match in ROH and allowed him to showcase skills we hadn't seen as one half of his dominating team with PCO.

A TV edit of Brody King vs Jeff Cobb from the Death Before Dishonor 17 pre-show is shown.

A TV edit of Brody King/PCO vs Juice Robinson/David Finlay in the Tag Wars 2019 Tournament Final from Road To G1 Supercard: San Antonio is shown.

He ends with a promise that Villain Enterprises will rule the wrestling world once again...

Tape Rating - N/A - This episode served its purpose well, in allowing Brody more of an opportunity to show us his personality. I thought the sincere, family-orientated opening montage was great as it shows us the man behind the tattoos and violence. He came off as affable, enthusiastic and calm in front of the camera - a generally likeable presence scattered between some pretty decent matches. The Villains vs MexiSquad trios match is incredibly under-rated and one of ROH's best matches from a disjointed year in 2020.
