SHIMMER Women Athletes – Volume 12 – 2nd June 2007

Volume 11 wasn’t a particularly incredible SHIMMER show in its own right. Although it had a LOT of matches and plenty of solid wrestling, it was very much a case of quantity over quality yesterday at the first of three SHIMMER events being taped across the weekend. However, it did set the stage and lay the foundation for this show...and on paper this looks like it has the potential to be the best show the promotion has produced thus far. I’ve not seen a single review or report and maybe I’m tempting fate and this DVD will wind up being a huge disappointment – but the line-up is outstanding. Even the throwaway undercard stuff looks promising (Rain/Deeb and a fourway featuring Portia Perez, Eden Black, Ariel and Nikki Roxx). Of course, at the heart of this afternoon’s show is the culmination of the tournament to crown the first ever SHIMMER Champion. Lacey, Daizee Haze, Sarah Stock and Sara Del Rey have made it to the semi-finals, and by the end of this show one of them will be wearing the newly minted SHIMMER Title belt. If that doesn’t sound promising enough we also have The Experience’s highest profile match to date as they take the unproven MsChif/Melissa tag team, and perhaps the highlight of the undercard is the grudge match Street Fight between Allison Danger and Cindy Rogers. Dave Prazak and the aforementioned Allison Danger will handle commentary from Berwyn, IL.

Lacey’s smug face opens the show, smirking that tonight she gets to avenge her Volume 1 loss to Daizee Haze before becoming the SHIMMER Champion. Daizee also gets promo time, and unsurprisingly she disagrees. She does a weird rap which is so appalling I can barely watch. And as a separate observation – when were those promos taped? Both Lacey and Daizee are covered in sweat and looking like they already got the sh*t beaten out of them!

Alicia vs Josie
Now when I said this was a great card, obviously I chose to ignore this one. Josie has been one of the worst SHIMMER performers so far and was rightly punished for that by being cut from the Volume 11 taping. She is back tonight, albeit right at the bottom of the card against a woman who was scheduled to be making her debut. Those plans changed last night when Alicia crashed the show then took Serena Deeb’s spot in the tournament when Serena couldn’t get to the building in time. She advanced to the quarter-finals with something of shock victory over Ariel (before being defeated by a dominant Sara Del Rey) so won’t be short on confidence as she faces a competitor perilously close from being cut from the roster altogether.

Alicia might not be the strongest worker, but to give her credit she has made enough of an impression in one show that even Josie gets over as a strong babyface simply by being around her. She proudly plants a chop across J’s chest to get the fight started. HORRIBLE FACEBUSTER by Josie (although it was more Alicia’s fault than hers) drives her opponent out of the ring…but Alicia recovers her composure out there and comes back with a mafia kick in the corner. ASS ATTACK DUEL! Both of these girls have booty so it’s an even fight. Alicia had dominated proceedings before that so she comes out of that sequence stronger, but walks into a fisherman suplex for 2. A-Bomb nailed…but referee Laura Mattano sees Alicia using the tights (like last night) and refuses to count the pin. Josie wins with a sloppy schoolboy at 06:33.

Rating - * - Granted this wasn’t Josie’s worst SHIMMER match, but this wasn’t great either. Alicia is good at getting heat, but her wrestling is seriously substandard. I’m starting to understand why this weekend constitutes her entire career in this company. Ironically, I’d actually consider her more of a prospect than Josie at this point though. At least her gimmick is over. Josie is an average worker and a painfully generic babyface. I’m not saying that TNA has the highest standards, but I really don’t understand how Josie managed to carve out a semi-reputable career for herself there.

Sarah Stock and Sara Del Rey get interview time next. Neither promos are particularly long, or anywhere near as terrible as Daizee’s.

Lacey vs Daizee Haze
Here is our first SHIMMER Title Tournament Semi-Final, and not only is it huge in terms of tournament stakes – it’s also a big rematch from Volume 1, pitting two of the premier Women Of Honor against each other. At SHIMMER’s debut show Haze survived a gruelling 20+ minute war with Lacey and emerged victorious with the deadly Heart Punch/Mind Trip combo. The Minnesotan was devastated having dominated long periods of that main event – and now comes to avenge that loss at the most opportune of moments. She and Daizee don’t see eye-to-eye, their rivalry goes back years, and this afternoon it is reignited with championship aspirations at the forefront of both women’s minds.

We start at breakneck speed, which obviously favours Haze and she drives her opponent from the ring with some clever kick combinations. She batters Lacey’s midsection then gives her a bruising trip into the guardrails to further injure that region. Yakuza Kick MISSES though, and Lacey knocks her right into the front row. SURFBOARD AROUND THE GUARDRAILS BY LACEY! Scared into action by her sluggish start, Lacey is extremely aggressive now; not afraid to break a few rules as she drags her opponent around the ring beating the hell out of her. A running knee to the spine is followed with a Saito suplex for 2 and leaves Haze in a heap on the canvas – where she is vulnerable to being choked out by her own over-sized toy flower! The intensely physical nature of this match has the crowd on the edge of their seats – chanting their support for both women as they tear lumps out of each other on the outside. Lacey hits a body slam on the wooden floor! The Haze’s smaller body is giving out on her and her back is taking an absolute pounding. Even when she tries to a mount a comeback she can barely stand and gets clocked back to the canvas with a Lacey lariat. She then tries to bridge out of a pinning attempt and collapses to the ground again coughing and clutching her ribs. LAST CHANCERY! Haze barely makes the ropes! Lacey looks to finish it off with an avalanche neckbreaker…Haze counters with a MISSILE DROPKICK! Both women down! ELBOWS! RUNNING ELBOW BY DAIZEE! NO SOLD! THESZ PRESS! GERMAN SUPLEX NAILED! Lacey doesn’t actually kick out, but Haze’s back is so beaten up the bridge collapses before she can hold on for three! Heart Punch ducked! Implant DDT blocked! HEART PUNCH…COUNTERED TO A LUNGBLOWER! IMPLANT DDT NAILED! LACEY WINS! She is in the finals at 14:05

Rating - **** - This kicked all kinds of ass. It was completely different to their gripping but methodically paced and lengthy V1 encounter and honestly I couldn’t tell you which one I preferred. This one was fought at incredible speed from the opening bell and considering they’d already wrestled twice that weekend (not to mention the fact that one of them was advancing to the finals, and they both have a match at the V13 taping later in the day) is a remarkable achievement. Learning from the first match, Haze tried to work at top speed from the opening bell…but just as she did at V1 she got caught out by the impressive wrestling skills and constant aggression of her adversary. Having avenged her V7 loss to Nikki Roxx last night, Lacey was hellbent on payback for another of her SHIMMER defeats and produced another killer showing. The last few minutes were tremendously exciting, and I really could have lived with this going even longer to let them really flesh out the story they were telling. Her won/lost record isn’t the best but Lacey has consistently been amongst the best WORKERS in SHIMMER so far and thoroughly deserves her place in the final.

Sarah Stock vs Sara Del Rey
This match determines who meets Lacey to crown a new SHIMMER Champion. Oddly, it also brings together two women who (as of writing in September 2015) are both now employed as trainers at the WWE Performance Center. And people wonder why the calibre of female athlete in the WWE has improved recently. Back in 2007 these two were absolutely world class workers in their own right. Stock only debuted at Volume 11 but made a hell of an impression with spectacular victories over SHIMMER stalwarts Cheerleader Melissa and MsChif. She works for major Mexican promotions and immediately assumed a position as one of the best wrestlers in this company. That does put her at odds with the resident ‘alpha female’ in SHIMMER though. Del Rey has reigned supreme as one of the most formidable women in the promotion since Volume 1. Suffering only one singles defeat in eleven shows, she rightly entered the tournament as the favourite. However, having seen two of the other ‘favourites’ fall to the Dark Angel yesterday, the ‘American Angel’ will know she has to be at the top of her game if she is to join her fellow ‘Women Of Honor’, Lacey, in the tournament’s concluding act.

Del Rey is the bigger of the women and sets about using her size by tossing Stock around and trying to boss her with a knucklelock. ROPE RUN LUCHA ARMDRAG BY SARAH! She then lands a springboard dropkick with such force that SDR goes into full retreat and bails. Sara is having to work damn hard, but showcases her own lucha libre experience as she hangs with Dark Angel in another high octane back and forth. Stock gets her own back again moments later by showcasing her own mat wrestling ability – getting the better of her adversary in an area where you’d expect Sara to flourish. This is some seriously high quality wrestling folks. Del Rey starts looking frustrated that she isn’t able to dominate and indeed, she even starts to look vulnerable to Stock’s complex and mystifying techniques on the mat. Del Rey tries a lucha-inspired monkey flip…only for Stock to somersault threw the air and land on her feet! RUNNING HIP ATTACK! Death Rey is through with the pretty sh*t and is ready to start beating the snot out of her uber-talented opponent. After a few hefty strikes she has the Dark Angel grounded and in prime position to be stretched. SOMERSAULT lucha armdrag by Stock! But Del Rey no sells and BOOTS HER IN THE FACE! ENZIGURI BY STOCK! Sarah tries to quicken the pace and climb the ropes…but slips on the top and flops down right into the path of another savage strike onslaught from the American Angel. Nice save on an obvious botch there! STF applied by Stock, although a combination of fatigue and her lack of size mean she struggles to force a submission. POWERBOMB BY DEL REY…FOR 2! She mauls Stock with a Samoan drop then mounts her with an awesome seated version of the Regal Stretch. SARA MISSES A MOONSAULT! She got too confident and tried to show up Sarah with an aerial move! Stock climbs the ropes, but is pulled out into the ROYAL BUTTERFLY! Stock refuses to be lifted into the powerslam and finally wrestles out of Del Rey’s clutches! ONE MINUTE LEFT IN THE TIME LIMIT! Is Lacey going to win the title by default? NEARFALL BATTLE…NEITHER WOMAN WINS! THIRTY SECONDS LEFT! Del Rey tries a powerbomb…Stock tries to counter with a hurricanrana…BUT SDR COUNTERS THAT WITH A JUMPING PILEDRIVER! DEL REY WINS! It’s all over at 19:52, and our final is set with Sara Del Rey going on to meet Lacey.

Rating - **** - What the hell took Prazak so long to get Sarah Stock into SHIMMER? Even with that botched top rope spot this was SO good. The experience and global influences of these two came to the fore, with much of this being extremely slick, polished and of the highest order. I loved the story they went for, with Del Rey getting frustrated at Stock’s snazzy and dazzling offensive arsenal so opting to brawl, maul and beat her up – just as Mercedes Martinez had done to her in their third match ironically. Could Death Rey beat her opponent into the dirt before the time limit expired? Could Stock land one high risk, bewitching lucha-influenced spot to lead her to victory? It wasn’t perhaps as action-packed as Lacey/Haze, but my word did this get dramatic in the latter stages.

Both women look absolutely exhausted after that. Del Rey staggers to the back contemplating how the hell she is going to get through two more matches in the same day…whilst Stock remains in the ring receiving a standing ovation and a well-deserved ‘please come back’ chant.

Cindy Rogers vs Allison Danger – Street Fight
At Volume 9 we saw Cindy’s long-hinted-at heel turn, when she attacked her friend/tag partner Danger from behind and left her to fight The Experience by herself. Allison immediately demanded a match with Rogers, getting it at Volume 10 but and instantly falling victim to more of Cindy’s rule breaking as she fell to yet another loss. It’s been a tough few shows for Danger, who also suffered something of a surprise loss to Malia Hosaka in the first round of the SHIMMER Title Tournament too. Can she put a difficult period behind her and score a cathartic victory over her bitter enemy here?

Rogers is dressed in street clothes and draped in a length of steel chain, so looks even grimier than usual. If possible, Allison looks even dirtier and comes in at a pace to absolutely maul her hated rival. Just like their last match, this quickly spills to the outside and gets seriously intense – with both women taking some rough bumps. GUARDRAIL SHINBREAKER by Cindy! Until that point it had been an even fight but that was a game changer. HANGING FIGURE 4 AROUND THE RINGPOST! That wasn’t pretty, which in a weird way really works within the confines of a Street Fight…and looked extremely painful. Prazak points out that Rogers’ nickname is the ‘Definition of Technician’ and is living up to that moniker even within the confines of a no rules match. She tree of woes Danger on the rails then dropkicks a ‘STOP’ sign into her exposed face! Alli is struggling but somehow manages to stomp the same sign back into Rogers’ head (using the good leg – nice touch). Her only reward is to get the Raven treatment with a drop toehold into a chair. STEEL CHAIR TO THE BAD LEG! Danger rolls to the floor in pain...only for Cindy to expose the knee against the steel steps then start battering it with a SHOVEL! LOVELACE CHOKER ON THE FLOOR BY DANGER! I understand it as a dramatic device, but that was entirely pointless as even though she sells it well – why on earth would you intentionally do a move which uses a bad leg? Rogers and Danger both reach for Cindy’s chain, but as Cindy gets preoccupied trying to use it Allison charges at her with a running (limping) STO! Out of almost nothing Danger gets the victory at 13:10

Rating - *** - Another good match between these two, with yet another jarring and uncomfortable finish which leaves you in no doubt they are capable of far better. Cindy was absolutely fantastic here (as she was at Volume 10 incidentally) and relished her role as a technical wrestling villain in a hardcore match. Most of the highlights of this match didn’t involve token weapon usage – they were Rogers being a ruthless b*tch and murdering Danger’s leg with whatever she could find at ringside. As usual Danger made for a hell of a sympathetic babyface which the live crowd were lapping up. Personally I thought she could have sold the actual leg injury much better, but overall even in victory she did a super job putting Rogers over. I really hope these women get to go full throttle in their next match (and get a much better finish booked).

She may have won but Danger is a mess…and it’s about to get worse as Cindy viciously attacks her with the chain. First she delivers repeated blows to the injured leg then uses the steel to choke her into the ground. A semi-conscious Allison grabs a microphone and demands a Dog Collar Match…

Eden Black vs Portia Perez vs Ariel vs Nikki Roxx
All four of these women failed to progress into Night 2 of the SHIMMER Title Tournament, so all now come together with the sole purpose of rebuilding some momentum and looking to get into the chasing pack of contenders to whomever the new champion may be. Roxx has impressed recently, but has been defeated in the main event of the last two Volumes. Black is tenacious and explosive but has produced erratic performances in her brief SHIMMER career to date. Ariel and Portia are both lower down the card and both suffered tough first round losses last night. Ariel in particular will want to rebound after the humiliating shock defeat to Alicia.

There is something effortless in the way Perez draws heat. She clearly has something about her, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that she really made a career for herself in this company. Nikki, meanwhile, is so popular even slipping over during her entrance doesn’t dent the fans’ affections. The fans want all the babyfaces to turn on Portia…so she runs away to the outside leaving Black and Ariel to start for her. Perez continues to be the focal point of this match, working with both Eden and Ariel in turn but wanting no part of Roxx. Jezebel gets over-excited again, bumping from the top rope to the floor (when she was clearly only supposed to land on the apron) then flailing like a maniac on a missed flying crossbody attempt. Portia sarcastically blind tags her way in before long-time friends Nikki and Ariel get to wrestle each other. The diminutive Canadian works some barely-legal offence on the Portuguese Princess, coupled with some comically pose-tastic cocky pins. Nikki gets a tag leaving Portia with no choice but to face her at last! It’s not long before Perez has tagged out…only to get taken out by a HIDEOUS dive by Ariel! Nikki gives Black the Barbie Crusher to win at 09:06

Rating - ** - Very sloppy at points, but strong performances from Nikki Roxx and Portia Perez stood head and shoulders above the other two and really carried the match. Portia has been on a role over recent DVD’s and is extremely watchable every time she steps into a SHIMMER ring. She needs a more prominent spot soon, as she is genuinely a talent worth nurturing. Nikki is more over than Ariel and much further along in her development than her other two opponents – and that really showed here.

Serena Deeb vs Rain
This is a big match for Deeb. Having missed the show yesterday due to a car accident, she missed her opportunity to participate in the SHIMMER Title Tournament. That will be a source of bitter disappointment, and she’ll be looking start putting that right with a win over an established wrestler like Rain.

Considering she wrecked her car less than 24 hours earlier, Deeb looks amazingly unharmed. She looks pumped up and desperate to make amends for missing the tournament yesterday – to such an extent that she charges so aggressively at Rain that the Home Wrecker simply steps aside and watches her crash violently out of the ring. Rain appears similarly motivated, apparently venting some frustration at her own elimination from the tournament yesterday. Serena’s back takes plenty of punishment, culminating in the Rain Drop for 2. Deeb blocks Acid Rain with a running knee to the face, but struggles to capitalise as her injuries threaten to get the best of her. She and Rain absolutely TEE OFF on each other in a chop exchange…before Rain hits an extreme lungblower for another close nearfall. Rain thinks about hitting Lacey’s Implant DDT, only for Deeb to counter into a rolling cradle. Sh*tty swinging neckbreaker by Serena! ACID RAIN NAILED! Rain wins at 09:56

Rating - ** - Not as exciting or ambitious as the four woman match that preceded it, but on the whole the execution here was a lot better so giving it the same rating is probably justified. Prazak is clearly a keen supporter of Serena’s…and in fairness she does sell well and really put over the beating her opponent is giving her. Unfortunately most of her offence still looks absolutely atrocious and really hurts her. Rain didn’t do much differentiate this from any other match she’s had in SHIMMER thus far. She’s a solid hand, she looks far more comfortable than some of the lesser experienced girls…but unlike a lot of the ‘main event girls’ (including her own tag partner) she seems to lack the x-factor and spark that really elevates her into the elite class on this roster.

The Experience vs MsChif/Cheerleader Melissa
Fyfe and Hosaka don’t get the chance to appear in the semi-main event of SHIMMER events too often. They are undefeated in tag team competition thus far too. Even though the tag division isn’t exactly loaded at present, that does include victories over some of the top names in this company – like Sara Del Rey, Mercedes Martinez, Nikki Roxx and Allison Danger. Their latest challenge is that of the newly formed MsChif/Melissa team. The two former enemies forged what seemed to be an alliance of convenience to fight the Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew at the last tapings – but against the odds seemed to bond and have apparently decided to remain an active tag team moving forward. Individually they are two of the best in SHIMMER – but is that enough to combat the combined years of experience their opposition possesses? Are they the ones to end The Experience’s undefeated streak?

How much longer does this experience with Daffney as a manager last? The Experience are apparently wearing earplugs to irritate MsChif and her manager. They really sell it too – missing both their ring introductions and the opening bell! STEREO BUBBA BOMBS by Melissa and MsChif! They forcibly remove the earplugs – so Daffney can scream right in their faces! Cheerleader targets Fyfe’s arm, and is fluently backed up by her partner. They dominate Lexie for several minutes…before her veteran instincts come into play and she finds a way to rake Melissa’s eyes. Finally she tags out to a fired up Hosaka who, with a handful of hair, mauls the Cheerleader. Dave Prazak brings up that Melissa’s first ever match was against Lexie Fyfe which is interesting. Lexie’s arm-selling is inconsistent but I love the aggression in Malia’s work. The Experience are wearing Melissa down with a target assault on the back…although any heat they might be getting is being drained away by the crowd getting pissed off at Daffney’s constant screaming. MsChif gets a tag and trades nearfalls with Hosaka at 100mph! Fyfe helps out her partner by raking Chif’s eyes over the top rope (using her bad arm), putting The Experience on top once again. Stalling sidewalk slam by Lexie next…so I guess she now has zero interest in selling her arm at all. Fortunately Malia is doing much better and absolutely kills poor MsChif with some savage striking. Lion Tamer/Camel Clutch combo by Fyfe and Hosaka…bringing Melissa in to make the save! STALLING SAMOAN DROP ON LEXIE! AVALANCHE DVD from MsChif to Hosaka! STEREO CURB STOMPS! Lexie blocks the Desecrator (which eliminated her from the tournament yesterday) into a facebuster…only for Melissa to save Chif from the double gourdbuster! Air Raid Crash on Hosaka! LIONSAULT BY MSCHIF! The Experience’s streak is over! MsChif and Melissa get the win at 18:12

Rating - *** - This was the best Experience tag in SHIMMER so far (unless you count the trios match with Kong at V6). I thought a match with this high a profile rather exposed Lexie Fyfe’s limitations (she is solid but pretty average), but equally I thought Hosaka really stepped up her game when dealing with opponents of Melissa and MsChif’s quality. The precision and constant aggression of Malia’s work was one of the highlights of this match for me – along with Melissa’s rampaging comeback sequence in the last few minutes. Daffney has got to go though – she nearly ruined this match and adds absolutely nothing to MsChif’s act at all.

Lacey vs Sara Del Rey – SHIMMER Title Tournament Final
After two days of gruelling competition we reach the eagerly-awaited final match. Since Volume 1 Lacey and Sara have been two of SHIMMER’s premier athletes. They are both outstanding performers on the Ring Of Honor stage, and have transferred that into being two of this promotion’s biggest draws. Del Rey is the favourite and has dominated almost uninterrupted from that first SHIMMER taping. Lacey’s record isn’t quite as commanding, but she has looked exceptional so far in the tournament – her route to the final past Eden Black, Nikki Roxx and Daizee Haze was arguably even tougher than Sara’s (Cindy Rogers, Alicia and Sarah Stock). Lacey also has the slight advantage of her semi-final going on first and going shorter meaning she has had longer to rest. Two of the biggest names in the company meet for the first time in a singles match here. Who leaves having made history as the first ever SHIMMER Champion?

Credit to the SHIMMER fans. The venue isn’t glamorous and their number isn’t great – but they create a genuine ‘big fight atmosphere’ for this. Lacey goes straight for the Implant DDT and forces Sara to dive into the ropes! It’s clear that Lacey doesn’t want to get onto the mat with her dangerous opponent – a point Del Rey makes as she applies a half crab then piles into her with knees and kicks. The Danielson-trained American Angel dominates on the canvas, stretching and striking her opponent as the enthusiastic crowd roars their encouragement. Lacey manages to get some distance – and outsmarts Sara before tripping her into her own version of a half crab. Crucially, Lacey doesn’t cheat at this point. She proves that she is every bit as dangerous as her opponent. She isn’t as powerful though, and Del Rey’s strength comes to the fore as she muscles her into a gutwrench suplex. Drastic action from Lacey – who snaps Sara with a swinging neckbreaker in the ropes then jumps her on the outside with a number of guardrail-enforced attacks. At last she has the Death Rey on the defensive. She neck is the focal point for her offence, ramming it against her knees then diving off the second rope to wrench it into a bulldog. She hits a swinging neckbreaker next then rolls it straight into a front choke. Del Rey tries to power free…but it is COUNTERED INTO A CODEBREAKER! Next it’s kicks and elbows to the neck, followed by a jumping knee for 2! Stranglehold neckbreaker, rolled into a BRIDGING Japanese Stranglehold! FACE KICK by Sara to escape! Mafia kicks next as the American Angel starts using her size and power once again! LACEY WON’T STAY DOWN! MAFIA KICK FLURRY! LACEY KICKS OUT! She pulls referee Bryce Remsburg in front of her to save her from a body avalanche…and with him down Rain runs in to hit a Rain Drop on Sara! FOR 2! Nikki Roxx and Allison Danger arrive at ringside to drag Rain out! Although they meant well they actually distract Del Rey, who turns right into a LUNGBLOWER! IMPLANT DDT…BLOCKED! ROYAL BUTTERFLY NAILED! LACEY GETS UP! JUMPING PILEDRIVER! SARA WINS! Del Rey is the winner of the tournament and first ever SHIMMER Champion at 19:35

Rating - **** - I could have lived without the overbooked finish, but it didn’t detract too much from what was a match of the highest quality to conclude this tournament. Admittedly I didn’t realise quite how good Sarah Stock was, but with some of SHIMMER’s biggest names not available for this weekend – this is the final I’d have booked as well. Lacey was, as per usual, outstanding – completely believable both as a heel and also as a wrestler credible and skilful enough to dominate someone of Del Rey’s calibre for almost fifteen minutes here. SDR too was seriously awesome, somehow combining a great sell job to put Lacey over, yet also being instantly believable as a dominating monster once again during her comeback sequence. Considering this was the fourth match these two had wrestled in less than 24 hours, it really had no right to be as good as it was. So often the finals in these tournaments can be something of a letdown. This one delivered on its billing (and also kept plenty back for a potential rematch). Both women should be extremely proud of their efforts this weekend.

Tape Rating - *** - If you can ignore the rubbish Alicia/Josie match that started the show, this was one of SHIMMER’s most consistent top-to-bottom DVD releases thus far. All three tournament matches were extremely good, with a finale befitting the two nights of hard fought competition that had led to it as the main event of the afternoon. Sara Del Rey, who has been SHIMMER’s top competitor since the first show, is fully deserving of being crowned their first ever champion. And I am glad to see that Lacey’s contributions to this promotion were rewarded with a strong run to the finals too. Outside of tournament competition, Rogers/Danger and Experience vs MsChif/Melissa were both good, solid contests as well. I’m not sure anything stands out as ‘greatest SHIMMER match ever’ like some preceding volumes, but this was a great night with obvious historical significance with the inaugural champion crowned. If you can find it anywhere this is highly recommended. Now I’m off to contemplate how the hell Prazak plans to squeeze another show out of this exhausted roster – since they still have the Volume 13 taping to get through later in the day!
